The TBM Automation AG delighted about a lively interest on the ICSP-12, the most important international conference
on shot peening from September 15th to 18th 2014 in Goslar, Germany.

MFN spoke to Mr. Silvester Tribus, CEO and Mr. Urs Tobler, Head of Peening Controls, of TBM Automation AG. Today TBM is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of controls, sensors and flow meters for the aerospace and automotive industries. Premium products are offered that are used for shot peening as well as dry and wet blasting purposes. Recently, TBM entered a cooperative agreement with Roxor Strahltechnik.

Kollmorgen Europe GmbH acknowledges and awards companies that run their own competence center for motion control and drive technology as part of their new distributor partner program.

The new Ethernet-based Advanced Kollmorgen Drive (AKD™) from Kollmorgen fully supports the EtherCAT® motion bus, without the need for option cards or other gateways as is common with competitive drive options.

Over recent years, the trend within the brick industry has been that more and more highly automated systems are run by fewer and fewer operators. Consideration of employee costs, which shows that night shifts and weekend operations are the most expensive times, has meant owners need to consider the amount of staff required and thus has resulted in using more highly and advanced automated systems.

On 17 March 2009, the company Pilz organized a one-day seminar in the Hotel Arte in Olten, Switzerland, the theme of which was „Modern concepts and solutions in mechanical engineering”. An audience of specialist was shown how to use compatible components like sensors, safety devices, controls and drives to realize efficient automation applications.

Recently, the TBM Automation AG has competed the first motion & drive project for a Formula 1 team. In simple terms, a high-speed control for an airflow and combustion air simulator was created.

At US-Tile in Ione, California, two production lines for roof tiles have been successfully brought into operation. US-Tile, a company of the Australian Boral Group, invested in a new plant there. At the California facilities of Freymatic AG brick machinery manufacturing company about 10 million roof tiles are manufactured annually for the Sacramento region.

At MALTEUROP in Rostock a retrofit was completed to replace the outdated Simatic S5 controllers with the Beckhoff PLC System. It was a challenge due to the fact that about 3000 inputs and outputs had to be replaced during the ongoing operation of the plant.

In close cooperation with Brickfactory Landquart AG and Beckhoff Automation AG an innovative energy management system was developed. The system serves the ceramic drying process in the brick industry.

At Denel Aviation in Johannesburg, South Africa a Beckhoff CNC control for a shot peening machine was successfully put into operation. Denel Aviation manufactures parts for Airbus with this equipment.
